Grab your students and head outdoors [or indoors] and go on a wild bug hunt. The students will have fun either way!
Before you begin, hide all the bug cards around your classroom or in the backyard. Hole punch the top left corner of all the buggy magnifier cards. Add a small ring to the cards so they are easy for the children to flip through while on their bug hunt.
Give each child a clipboard and pencil/marker/crayon with collection record sheet attached.
Cooperative Group Game:
Disperse a complete set of magnifiers to all the students along with a clipboard, pencil and a recording sheet.
Invite your group to secretly hunt for bugs making sure they do not share with their friends where they found their bug cards.
If they find a bug, have them place a check-mark next to the appropriate magnifying glass on their recording sheet. Continue until all the bug cards have been found. The student who finds the most cards Wins!! Have fun and enjoy.
