Week 1 – Gone Fishing (5-day Thematic Unit)

Students take a break from all the business of the day and go fishing. They will make their own tackle box and cut and paste their fishing gear in it. They play a game of tackle box memory and make a cracker snack called fish in a pond. Students count crabs and crawl like a crab when studying the letter C. The students will enjoy making their own reader all about the fisherman and coloring the pages, and continue their learning using number and alphabet fish cards. They read the story of the Rainbow Fish, and finish their week making fish art.

Week 2 – Off To Kindergarten (5-day Thematic Unit)

In this Back to School unit the kiddos are off to Kindergarten. We have fun learning all about Kindergarten. Students will enjoy setting up classroom centers and assigning their helpers. We introduce numbers 1 and 2 and the letter J. The students will complete activities that reinforce those concepts. Students will complete center puzzles, sort activities, make an All About Me Book and earn a “good Job’ award when all done.

Week 3 – Storybook Fun (5-day Thematic Unit)

In this unit we play lil theatre with the Three Lil Pigs. We work on a letter S file folder game and go on a scavenger hunt, play in the doghouse with Clifford the Big Red Dog. Students make a bear story booklet and learn about mixing colors with our Mischievous Mouse.

Week 4 – Our Town (5-day Thematic Unit)

This week’s unit is all about our town, cars, and parks. We also study the letter U and the shape Circle. Students learn about following directions, explore North, South, East and West. We sharpen out map skills and finish the week by building our own town.
