The Human Motor Preschool Lesson Plans is a hands-on, play-based 5-day preschool learning experience that helps children understand how their bodies work and how healthy choices support strong, growing bodies.

Through science exploration, movement, literacy review, and real-life health topics, students learn that their bodies function like a machine—with each part working together to help them move, breathe, eat, and stay active. This lesson week blends body awareness, early STEM, literacy reinforcement, nutrition, and physical activity into one cohesive plan that is easy for teachers to implement and engaging for young learners.

Designed for preschool, pre-K, kindergarten, homeschool, and daycare settings, this resource includes detailed lesson plans and coordinating printables that support meaningful learning across the entire week.

What Students Will Explore

How the body works as a system (heart, lungs, stomach)
Caring for teeth and understanding dental health
Making healthy food choices and learning food groups
The importance of movement and exercise
Letter review (P, Q, R) and number review (8)
Listening, questioning, and body awareness

What the 5-Day Lesson Week Looks Like

Day 1: My Body Machine – Body Systems & Science Exploration

The week begins by introducing the body as a machine made up of important working parts. Through group discussion, children learn about the heart, lungs, and stomach and how each organ helps the body function. Hands-on science activities demonstrate breathing, digestion, and circulation using simple, child-friendly experiments. Students trace body outlines, place organs correctly, and explore cause-and-effect concepts through visual and sensory learning. Music and movement reinforce learning with a body systems song, and the day ends with a cooking activity that connects digestion to real-life experience.

Day 2: P, Q, R & Number 8 Review – Literacy & Math Reinforcement

Day two focuses on reinforcing previously learned concepts through engaging review activities. Children revisit letters P, Q, and R using letter games, word cards, and dice-based activities that support phonics, recognition, and oral language. Math learning is integrated through number 8 activities, including puzzles and counting tasks that build number sense and confidence. Cooperative games and hands-on manipulatives keep review purposeful rather than repetitive, helping students strengthen foundational skills while staying engaged.

Day 3: Dental Health – Hygiene, Science & Self-Care

On day three, children learn why caring for their teeth is important. Group discussions introduce dental hygiene concepts, including brushing, flossing, and visiting the dentist. Students participate in science experiments that show how teeth can be affected by food choices, making learning concrete and meaningful. Creative activities such as floss painting and making homemade toothpaste reinforce fine-motor skills and sensory exploration. Music and crafts help children remember healthy habits while building independence and responsibility for self-care.

Day 4: Healthy Foods – Nutrition & Classification Skills

Healthy Foods Day introduces children to nutrition and balanced eating in a developmentally appropriate way. Students explore food groups, sort foods using charts and matching activities, and create a healthy food plate. Through discussion, art, and math connections, children begin to understand how food fuels their bodies. Cooking and food-related activities reinforce sequencing, categorization, and real-world application while keeping learning playful and accessible.

Day 5: Kids & Exercise – Movement, Heart Health & Reflection

The week concludes with an energetic focus on movement and exercise. Children learn how physical activity affects their bodies by observing heart rate changes and participating in guided movement activities. Gross-motor games, music, and expressive movement support coordination, self-regulation, and confidence. The day ends with reflection, show-and-tell opportunities, and a simple snack activity that ties together the week’s learning about health, movement, and self-care.
